Westcroft School are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic Teacher to be an effective professional, who demonstrates thorough curriculum knowledge, can teach and assess effectively, takes responsibility for professional development and supports students to maximise their potential.

 

Westcroft School is rated “good” by Ofsted and is situated in Wolverhampton.   We are a special school for pupils with complex cognitive difficulties whose age range is 5 to 19 years, who are seeking to appoint a motivated, dedicated and driven Teacher.

 

We are an Academy School, part of the Central Learning Partnership Trust (CLPT). We strive to ensure our children receive an education which inspires and promotes positive learning and ensure that rigorous CPD supports all staff in becoming the best they can be.

 

Core Responsibilities:

  • Plan thoroughly and teach effectively, all lessons that promote the development of abilities and aptitudes of all students in class, enabling them to make good and better progress
  • Differentiate and personalise planning and teaching to ensure the achievement of all learners.
  • Ensure that planning meets the needs of the individual learners, make explicit use of prior learning and clearly identify students needing extra support
  • Understand and apply a range of teaching strategies
  • Positively target and support individual learning needs
  • Understand and apply effective classroom management
  • Maintain high levels of behaviour and discipline
  • Effectively use extra curricular learning opportunities
  • Monitor rigorously to ensure every student makes progress
  • Work in partnership with additional adults, including TAs, planning together as appropriate and directing the support to have maximum impact on the learning of students

  

Essential Qualifications & Experience:

  • Have a working knowledge of teachers' professional duties and legal liabilities
  • Operate at all times within the stated policies and practices of the school, including professional duties
  • Perform duties as part of a duty team
  • Maintain an up to date knowledge of good practice in teaching techniques
  • Know subject(s) or specialism(s) to enable effective teaching
  • Take account of wider curriculum developments
  • Contribute positively and effectively to the SEND agenda
  • Undertake professional development to enhance teaching and pupils' learning, and apply outcomes and identify impact; share outcomes with colleagues
  • Take responsibility for professional learning

  • Participation in relevant training to maintain up-to-date knowledge

CHILDCARE (DISQUALIFCATION) (Applicable to Primary aged Schools)

In accordance with the Childcare Act 2006 and the Childcare (Disqualification) Regulation 2009 the Governors are required to obtain an additional staff disqualification declaration for employees within settings providing care for early years childcare (this covers the age range from birth until 1st September following a child’s fifth birthday i.e. up to and including reception age) or later years childcare (this covers children above reception age but who have not attained the age of 8) in nursery, primary or secondary school educational settings, or if when directly concerned with the management of such childcare related establishments. This declaration is to confirm that you are not disqualified ‘by association’ to anyone currently residing within your household who is disqualified under the Childcare (Disqualification) Regulation 2009
