About this Role

Bilsthorpe Flying High Academy is seeking a committed and inspirational Inclusion Lead to champion inclusive practice and ensure every day counts for every child. The role of an Inclusion Leader is to be a leader in the classroom and ensure every day counts for all children in your care. 

As a one-form-entry school at the heart of the Bilsthorpe community, we pride ourselves on being a welcoming, nurturing and inclusive school where children, families and staff work closely together. We are also proud to be part of the Flying High Partnership, a Multi-Academy Trust of 38 primary schools.

The Inclusion Lead will shape and sustain an inclusive culture, ensuring systems, processes and provision meet the needs of all pupils. You will model best practice, support and train staff, work in close partnership with families and external agencies, and fulfil the statutory responsibilities of a SENDCO. As a member of the Leadership Team, you will support the Headteacher in leading behaviour, attendance and pupil premium provision, while meeting the Teachers’ Standards and professional duties outlined in the School Teachers’ Pay and Conditions Document. 

The role includes a timetabled teaching commitment. 

 

Main Purpose 

The Inclusion Lead will support the Headteacher and Deputy Headteacher by: 

  • Championing the school’s vision for inclusion and supporting strategic leadership 

  • Promoting a culture of high expectations and strong outcomes for all pupils, including those with SEND and those eligible for pupil premium 

  • Contributing to the day-to-day leadership of the school, including undertaking the role of Designated Safeguarding Lead where required 

  • Supporting the formulation, implementation and evaluation of inclusion-related policies and school improvement priorities 

  • Monitoring progress towards inclusion goals and supporting whole-school improvement

Key Responsibilities 

SEND and Inclusion 

  • Provide strategic leadership of SEND and inclusion across the school 

    Provide strategic oversight of the schools enhanced provision

  • Line manage inclusion staff and monitor the quality and impact of provision 

    Line manage the school family support worker

  • Ensure statutory duties under the SEND Code of Practice are met 

  • Lead SEND and pupil premium strategy, ensuring priorities are reflected in the School Improvement Plan 

  • Work closely with parents, carers, external professionals and agencies, including securing appropriate support and EHCP provision 

  • Evaluate the impact of funding and provision to maximise outcomes for pupils 

Behaviour, Attendance and School Culture 

  • Lead the development and implementation of behaviour and attendance strategies rooted in relational practice 

  • Promote positive behaviour, strong routines and high expectations 

  • Analyse attendance and behaviour data to inform targeted support and improvement 

Teaching, Curriculum and Assessment 

  • Secure high-quality teaching and effective adaptations across universal, targeted and specialist provision 

  • Ensure an accessible, ambitious and coherent curriculum for all pupils 

  • Support curriculum leadership and staff development 

  • Lead inclusive assessment practices and data analysis to improve outcomes for vulnerable groups 

Organisational Leadership and School Improvement 

  • Establish effective systems and processes that support inclusion and safeguarding 

  • Contribute to school self-evaluation and improvement planning 

  • Ensure policies reflect equality duties and current legislation 

  • Support effective use of resources and budgets 

Staff Development and Partnership Working 

  • Lead and support the inclusion team through performance management and professional development 

  • Deliver training for staff across strands of inclusion 

  • Work collaboratively with governors, external partners and other schools to improve outcomes for pupils
