About the Role

Woodloes Primary School is seeking to appoint an exceptional Deputy Headteacher to join our dedicated and ambitious team. This is a key leadership role with responsibility for curriculum, teaching and learning, working in close partnership with the Headteacher to drive school improvement and secure the very best outcomes for our pupils.

Working in Partnership with the Headteacher

This role requires a highly effective and trusting partnership with the Headteacher. The Deputy Headteacher will:

  • Work alongside the Headteacher to shape, refine and implement the strategic vision for the school
  • Translate strategic priorities into clear, actionable plans that lead to measurable improvements in classrooms
  • Provide professional challenge and support, contributing to well-informed and robust decision-making
  • Take shared responsibility for the pace and impact of school improvement, particularly in curriculum, teaching and learning
  • Lead on agreed whole-school priorities, ensuring they are implemented consistently and evaluated rigorously
  • Act as a key link between senior leadership and staff, ensuring clarity, consistency and high expectations across the school
  • Maintain a clear and accurate understanding of school performance, keeping the Headteacher fully informed through evidence-based evaluation
  • Deputise fully for the Headteacher when required, demonstrating the capacity to lead the school with confidence and credibility

This is a role for a leader who can both support and challenge, who is able to think strategically while maintaining a sharp focus on day-to-day impact, and who is committed to working collaboratively to secure excellence.
