About this Role

We are seeking an enthusiastic, committed and passionate  Teacher of Religious Education to join the team at Hampton College on a temporary basis, covering a period of maternity, for up to one year, from June or September 2026.

This position will suit an experienced teacher looking for a part time opportunity (0.60 FTE), however there is flexibility in working hours, to be discussed at interview, for the right candidate.

The ability to teach Religious Education across Key Stages 3–5 will be an advantage.

We also welcome applications from Early Career Teachers who are looking for their first position following their initial teacher training.  We can offer a full-time, one year fixed term contract in the first instance.  We are pleased to be able to support you in your first ECT year, with mentoring and full support along the way.

About the Department

We offer Religious Education at GCSE & A-Level through AQA.  Critical thinking and original thought are key aspects of all our RE lessons, and we encourage students to develop their own independent thoughts on religious, philosophical and ethical topics.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Deliver engaging lessons that inspire creativity and foster a love for your subject
  • Contribute to curriculum development and exciting departmental projects
  • Use effective assessment strategies to support student progress and attainment
  • Promote high standards of behaviour and engagement in lessons and around school
  • Support students as a form tutor, working closely with the pastoral team
  • Contribute to extra-curricular activities, visits and competitions to extend student learning

 What We’re Looking For

We’re looking for someone who is:

  • Well-qualified to teach Religious Education across all Key Stages
  • Committed to inclusive practice and supporting students of all abilities
  • Enthusiastic about contributing to the wider life of the school through clubs, trips and events
  • Able to work collaboratively within a team and adapt to a dynamic school environment
  • A reflective practitioner who is keen to develop professionally

We are committed to creating an inclusive environment where every member of staff feels valued and supported.  We welcome applications from ECTs and experienced teachers alike. If you’re passionate about Religious Education and eager to develop your career in a supportive environment, we’d love to hear from you.
