About the Role

Gladstone Park Primary School is a vibrant, values-driven community school in Brent, where our RIDER values sit at the heart of everything we do. We are seeking a compassionate, strategic and inspiring Assistant Headteacher (Inclusion & Safeguarding) to join our senior leadership team on a fixed-term, maternity cover contract.

You will lead on inclusion, safeguarding, behaviour and wellbeing across the school, ensuring that every child — whatever their background or need — is known, supported and able to thrive.

Our RIDER Values in Action

As Assistant Headteacher, you will:

Responsibility

  • Lead the whole-school inclusion and safeguarding strategy

  • Ensure robust systems are in place so every child feels safe, supported and valued

Integrity

  • Serve as Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL)

  • Model honesty, fairness and professionalism in all aspects of leadership

Determination

  • Drive improvement in SEND, EAL, behaviour, attendance and wellbeing

  • Lead and develop our Inclusion Team to secure the best outcomes for all pupils

Empathy

  • Build strong, trusting relationships with pupils, families and staff

  • Lead with emotional intelligence and a deep understanding of children’s diverse needs

Respect

  • Champion inclusive classroom practice and an equitable curriculum

  • Celebrate diversity and ensure all voices are heard and respected

About You

We are looking for an experienced primary leader who:

  • Has a strong track record in inclusion, safeguarding and SEND

  • Can inspire, coach and empower colleagues across the school

  • Is strategic, solutions-focused and committed to continuous improvement

  • Shares our belief that every child can succeed and deserves to thrive

  • Lives and models our RIDER values in their everyday practice

Why Join Gladstone Park?

  • A warm, inclusive and ambitious school community

  • Children who are enthusiastic, curious and proud to be “Gladstone RIDERs”

  • A supportive, fun and committed staff team with a fantastic sense of humour. We believe in ‘getting stuck in’ and ‘not sitting still’.

  • A core belief in the development of every adult in the school. We pride ourselves on our research-led and evidence-informed professional development.

  • The opportunity to work within Anthem Schools Trust, with access to a collaborative network and potential to contribute to trust-wide initiatives
