About this Role

Are you an experienced and proactive Site Manager looking for a rewarding role where you can make a real difference every day? Copperfield Academy are seeking a dedicated and skilled professional to take responsibility for the management, maintenance and safety of our school site. This is a key role in ensuring that our children learn in a clean, safe and welcoming environment.

About the Role

The Site Manager will take overall responsibility for the day to day management, maintenance, security and cleanliness of the school buildings and grounds, ensuring the site is maintained to a high standard. This includes overseeing contractors, supervising premises staff, carrying out repairs, and ensuring full compliance with health and safety requirements.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Ensuring the school buildings and grounds are clean, tidy and well maintained
  • Implementing daily housekeeping and health & safety routines
  • Carrying out minor repairs, maintenance and DIY tasks across the site
  • Monitoring cleaning standards and supervising cleaning staff as required
  • Managing contractors and overseeing small maintenance projects, including obtaining quotes and monitoring work
  • Conducting regular checks, inspections and statutory compliance tasks (e.g. fire alarms, emergency lighting, water hygiene, asbestos, PAT testing)
  • Ensuring safe access to the school during adverse weather conditions such as snow, ice or flooding
  • Maintaining security of the site, including opening/locking the school and responding to emergency call-outs as a keyholder
  • Managing energy usage, recording utilities readings and monitoring consumption
  • Providing porterage, setting up rooms for events and ensuring deliveries are received and distributed efficiently

What We’re Looking For

We are seeking someone who is:

  • Experienced in site management, ideally within a school or similar setting
  • Skilled in general maintenance, repairs and use of tools/equipment
  • Knowledgeable about health & safety, including CoSHH, manual handling, Legionella and asbestos regulations
  • Able to supervise staff and work effectively with contractors
  • Physically capable of carrying out the demands of the role, including lifting and manual tasks
  • Organised, proactive and able to prioritise workload in a busy environment
  • Committed to maintaining a safe, secure and positive environment for children and staff

Relevant qualifications in premises management or health & safety are desirable.
