About this Role

We are looking to recruit someone to join our pastoral team to lead our inclusion room ‘The Hub’ to support students to reflect on their behaviour and support them to find new strategies to manage school life. As our school grows in size, we now need to recruit a skilled practitioner to lead The Hub and ensure it helps students rethink their behaviour and support them in their learning. We are looking for:

  • Communicator: you will have very clear expectations and know how to approach students experiencing a range of feelings.
  • Consistency: you will provide clarity and consistency so everyone knows the expectations in the hub.
  • Empathy: you will have a heart for young people and use your skills to understand the child behind the behaviour.
  • Resilience: you will develop both your own and student’s resilience.
  • Support: you won’t be alone – there is a team to support and help you develop the provision under our Assistant Head.

We have different areas for students depending on their need. You will be responsible for running The Hub.

  • Butterfly Room – academic interventions and support from students with special educational needs.
  • Phoenix Suite – SEMH support for students struggling with their resilience and emotional wellbeing.
  • The Hub – a space for students to reflect on their behaviour for pre-planned sanctions as well as a responsive space to students removed from classes.

You will be supported by pastoral assistants and there will be opportunities for you to grow and develop your practice.

Sir Thomas Fremantle is set in North Buckinghamshire for 11-16 year olds serving the local community. The school is in easy reach of Milton Keynes and Aylesbury. We benefit from great facilities – the school building was only opened in 2017.

We are driven to ensure all our students have an incredible education that inspires and prepares them for the next step in their journey. With 650 students we are able to really get to know each of them and our sense of community is a real strength of our school.

Your professional development is really important to us. We want you to have the skills and training so you can flourish in your role. We care about your wellbeing and we want to work with you to ensure we do all we can to support you.

We would love to show you around our school to meet our wonderful students and to get to know us better.

Please note that we do not accept CVs - applicants must submit a STFS application form via mynewterm.

Please contact Kate Duckmanton -  kate.duckmanton@sirthomasfremantle.org  if you wish to arrange a visit.
