About this Role

We are recruiting for a Head of Maths and Faculty Lead for STEM at King Edward VI Academy, based in Spilsby from September 2026. This role could be your next career opportunity.

  • Provide inspirational leadership for the Maths department and wider STEM faculty, modelling outstanding practice and high expectations. 
  • Develop and implement a clear, ambitious vision for STEM that aligns with DRET’s commitment to academic excellence and enrichment. 
  • Lead curriculum development to ensure a coherent, challenging, and engaging STEM offer from KS3 to KS4. 
  • Use data intelligently to drive improvement, monitor progress, and close gaps. 
  • Deliver consistently high-quality teaching in Maths, securing excellent progress for all learners. 
  • Coach, mentor, and develop staff across STEM subjects, fostering a culture of collaboration and continual improvement. 
  • Promote innovative pedagogy, including the use of technology, problem-solving approaches, and cross-curricular STEM opportunities. 
  • Ensure effective assessment practices that support learning and raise attainment. 
  • Oversee staffing, timetabling, and resource allocation across STEM subjects. 
  • Lead performance management processes, supporting staff to meet ambitious goals. 
  • Ensure the faculty contributes positively to whole-school priorities, behaviour expectations, and safeguarding standards. 
  • Champion STEM enrichment, including clubs, competitions, trips, and links with universities, employers, and STEM organisations.
