This is a rare and exciting opportunity for the right candidate to help shape and drive the next stage of our farm journey.
We are seeking to appoint a Farm and Enrichment Leader to join our team. The role will be based at Frances Bardsley Academy for Girls, but will also involve working with schools across the Trust to support and develop enrichment opportunities.
The successful candidate will have experience of working in a hands-on environment with large and small animals, poultry and waterfowl, alongside good knowledge and understanding of animal and bird husbandry. You will be responsible for maintaining high levels of animal welfare at the farm and training students in animal husbandry.
You will be required to stay abreast of DEFRA requirements, alongside actively promoting animal welfare in school and across the Trust when delivering farm sessions and drafting written submissions for the school bulletin.
As Farm and Enrichment Leader you will also contribute to a wider programme of enrichment activities at FBA and across the Trust, including Forest School and other outdoor learning opportunities.
This post is a support role but also carries important leadership responsibilities. We are looking to recruit a candidate with proven experience of working with children and young people, who is able to plan and deliver engaging, practical and creative learning experiences. The successful candidate will be confident in working both independently and collaboratively, and will play an important role in supporting the educational and personal development of our students.
You will possess excellent communication and organisational skills and will be hardworking, flexible and professional in your approach. You will have high expectations of yourself and others, demonstrating energy, initiative and enthusiasm, and will contribute positively to the continued success of the farm and the wider ethos and values of the school.
This position is based on a sole candidate; however, applications from candidates interested in a job-share arrangement will also be warmly welcomed.
The working hours will be four days from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm (includes a 30-minute unpaid lunch). On the fifth day, timings will be adjusted - via either a later start or an extended afternoon - to support our after-school club. Specific hours for this day will be agreed upon with the successful candidate(s).
This is a unique opportunity to join a committed and supportive team and to play a key role in developing a distinctive and inspiring learning environment for our students. We are looking for someone who shares our passion for outdoor learning, enrichment and providing meaningful experiences that support young people to thrive.
