About this Role

Term-time only + Training Days. 37 hours per week.  Monday – Friday

We are looking for a hardworking and conscientious Design Faculty Technician to join our dynamic team and play a key role in supporting our creative departments. Working closely with talented students and staff, you will ensure that our Art, Design Technology and Photography facilities are well‑maintained, fully equipped and ready for high‑quality teaching and learning.

In this hands‑on role, you will be responsible for preparing and maintaining equipment and materials (including tasks such as cutting wood), providing technical support during practical lessons and helping to facilitate the creative process within a busy and fast‑paced environment. Working under the direction of the Team Leader and Senior Technician, you will liaise closely with teaching staff to coordinate resources and support the smooth delivery of the Design Faculty curriculum. The ability to cover non‑practical classes at short notice is also required.

This position is ideal for a proactive and detail‑oriented individual with a passion for the arts and a commitment to helping students thrive in their creative pursuits. Full compliance with school policies and procedures—particularly those relating to Health & Safety and COSHH—is essential.

If you are enthusiastic about art, design and supporting others to succeed, we would love to hear from you.

About our School

We are a welcoming and supportive community, made special by a dedicated staff team who genuinely care about giving every young person the best possible experience. We encourage our students to aim high, believe in themselves, and be ambitious about their futures.

At Crawshaw Academy, we believe education is about more than results. It is about helping young people grow into confident, kind, and well-rounded individuals. Our staff take the time to really know each student, recognising their strengths, nurturing their talents, and encouraging them to do their best.

We value the opportunities learning beyond the classroom can bring. Through a wide range of extracurricular activities, from sport and the arts to trips and performances, students are able to discover new interests, build friendships, and develop important skills such as teamwork, leadership, and resilience. These experiences also help students gain a greater understanding of different cultures, traditions, and ways of life.

We set high standards because we care. We know what helps young people succeed, and we provide the right balance of challenge, guidance, and support so every student feels confident, supported, and able to thrive.

Here’s what you can expect when you join us:

  • Generous pension scheme: Employer contribution rate of 19%, plus a wide range of benefits and discounts. Full details HERE
  • Flexible working options: We support work-life balance and are open to exploring suitable arrangements
  • Supportive environment: We prioritise respect, equality, diversity, and well-being
