About this Role

We are seeking to appoint an outstanding Head of Religious Studies (RS) who is enthusiastic, conscientious and self-motivated. Religious Studies is a core GCSE subject at Holmer Green and is a very popular A level subject.  We are looking for an excellent teacher who is ambitious for all our students, is passionate about Religious Studies and who would welcome the chance to flourish in a dynamic area.

This is an exciting and unique opportunity for a high performing RS teacher to take a step into the role of Head of Department and lead on subject initiatives.  The successful candidate will have a strong track record in supporting and challenging colleagues through line management, performance management, mentoring and coaching, along with the ability to build effective working relationships with colleagues and staff.  They will have extensive proven teaching experience and a track record of leading pupils to achieve exceptional results.

 We offer you:

  • Supportive Culture: We value collaboration, professional growth, and wellbeing. Our staff benefit from strong coaching and a positive, inclusive atmosphere.
  • Professional Development: We invest in your future with tailored CPD opportunities, leadership pathways, and access to the latest teaching strategies.
  • Innovative Approach: Our curriculum is dynamic and designed to inspire curiosity and achievement. We encourage creativity and innovation in the classroom.
  • Community Spirit: Holmer Green Senior School is more than a workplace: it’s a community. We work closely with families and celebrate the success of every student.
  • Excellent Facilities: Modern classrooms, specialist resources, and a commitment to technology-enhanced learning

We offer 8 staff training days (not the 5 you find in most schools), a two-week October half term and professional development of a high standard.  We take our staff well-being seriously and offer weekly activities, like team sports and a brand new fitness suite.

If you are committed to making a difference and want to join a school that values hard work, kindness, and passion for education, we would love to hear from you.

To arrange a visit to the school or for an informal conversation, please call or email via the Head’s PA, Ms Ali McKee on 01494 712219 / mckeea@holmer.org.uk
