Learning Support Assistant

Location: Barnhill Community High School 

Salary: Scale 3 NJC5 - NJC6 £20,621 to £20,916 per annum

Contract Type: Part -time, permanent

Working Weeks: Term time only plus 5 Inset days (38 weeks per year)

Hours: 30 hours per week, Monday to Friday 8am to 3pm.

Staff Wellbeing: We have a very well thought of staff wellbeing that focusses on allowing staff to concentrate on their work without unnecessary impediment. In addition to this there is a range of supportive measures such marking from home, wellbeing events and staff celebrations.

The Role: The LSA will work  under the direct instruction / guidance of teaching staff and SENDCo and deputy SENDCo to undertake work / care / support programmes, to enable access to learning for pupils and to assist the teacher in the management of pupils and the classroom.  Work may be carried out in the classroom or outside the main teaching area.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and provide particular support for pupils, including those with special needs, ensuring their safety and access to learning activities.
  • Assist with the development and implementation of SEND support plans and EHCP's
  • Attend to the pupils personal needs and implement related personal programmes, including social, health, physical, medical, hygiene and welfare matters.
  • Supervise and support pupils ensuring their safety and access to learning.

What We're Looking For:

  • Ability to be constructive member of a cohesive and harmonious team by building positive relationships with colleagues and managers
  • Ability to be flexible in approach in order to support the work of the whole team.
  • Qualifications in TEFL, TESOL or CELTA
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Experience of working with students who have additional languages within relevant age groups in a learning environment
