At Norbury High School Girls, we believe that every child deserves an education that recognises their unique potential and breaks down barriers to success. We are seeking an inspiring, strategic, and deeply committed leader to join our Senior Leadership Team as Assistant Headteacher for Inclusion and SENDCo.
This is not just a compliance role. This is a pivotal leadership position where you will shape the cultural and academic landscape of our school, ensuring that inclusion is woven into the very fabric of our curriculum, teaching, and community.
As Assistant Headteacher and SENDCo, you will hold strategic responsibility for the leadership and management of Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), alongside wider inclusion strategies (including EAL, Disadvantaged pupils, and Medical needs).
You will lead a dedicated team, advise the Headteacher and SLT, and empower our teaching staff to deliver high-quality, adaptive teaching.
Strategic Leadership: Serve as an active member of the SLT, contributing to the overarching school development plan and fostering a culture of high expectations for all.
SEND & Inclusion Strategy: Oversee the day-to-day operation of the SEND policy, ensuring early identification, effective interventions, and robust monitoring of student progress
Staff Development: Lead CPD to upskill teachers and support staff, ensuring adaptive teaching is embedded across all departments.
Collaboration & Advocacy: Work closely with parents, external agencies, and local authorities to secure the best possible provision and funding (including EHCP processes).
We are looking for a qualified teacher and experienced leader who possesses:
The National Award for SEND Coordination (NASENCO) or the new National Professional Qualification for Special Educational Needs Coordinators (NPQ LEND) or are willing to undertake the training immediately.
A proven track record of raising achievement and improving outcomes for pupils with SEND and additional needs.
Exceptional interpersonal skills, with the ability to inspire, challenge, and support colleagues, parents, and students.
A deep understanding of the current SEND Code of Practice, funding mechanisms, and inspection frameworks.
Resilient optimism, emotional intelligence, and a genuine passion for educational equity
We are a fully
inclusive school that is dedicated to both supporting and challenging all
members of our diverse community and to develop
the potential in all our students, no matter what their starting point.
Pastoral care is also
of the highest importance and we are committed to providing the best possible
learning environment to develop confident, independent learners. We
provide an ambitious and broad curriculum and ensure that students have
opportunities outside the classroom to develop and inspire them, including a
wide range of extracurricular activities.
Working
with us:
In addition to the staff benefits offered by Wandle Learning Trust, we have a health cash plan with Simply Health and staff wellbeing programme which includes a staff reward scheme, staff yoga and regular social activities. We are located in the North of the borough with excellent transport links to London and the surrounding areas.
The successful candidate will benefit from a wide range of CPD opportunities and an opportunity to extend their own leadership potential within the MAT.
