Assistant Headteacher
Consett Academy
To start September 2026
Consett Academy is seeking an exceptional and ambitious
leader to join our Senior Leadership Team as Assistant Headteacher with
responsibility for Teaching and Learning. This is a pivotal role for an
outstanding practitioner who is passionate about raising standards, inspiring
colleagues and ensuring that every student achieves their very best.
Working closely with the Headteacher and Deputy Headteacher,
you will play a central role in translating the Trust’s vision into meaningful,
measurable impact within the academy. You will provide strategic leadership for
teaching and learning as well as literacy across the Academy driving a culture
of excellence, high expectations and continuous improvement. Your work will
ensure that classrooms are engaging, inclusive and uncompromising in their
focus on achievement and progress for every child.
We are looking for a leader who leads by example: a highly
effective classroom practitioner with a proven track record of improving
outcomes and developing others. You will have successful leadership experience
within a secondary setting and be confident in monitoring, evaluating and
enhancing the quality of teaching through robust performance management and
purposeful professional development. A strong understanding of data will
underpin your ability to set ambitious targets, identify priorities and demonstrate
whole-school impact.
At Consett Academy, we believe that strong relationships,
mutual respect and high aspirations are the foundations of success. You will
embody these values, champion safeguarding and inclusion, and work in
partnership with families, governors and the wider community to secure the very
best opportunities for our students. You will be resilient, reflective and
driven, with the credibility and interpersonal skills to inspire confidence and
motivate others.
We offer the opportunity to work within a collaborative and
forward-thinking Senior Leadership Team where your voice will be valued and
your expertise will shape whole-school improvement. You will benefit from
high-quality professional development, Trust-wide collaboration and a
supportive culture built on mutual respect, professional trust and shared
ambition, alongside the opportunity to make a genuine and lasting difference to
the lives of young people in our community.
This is an exciting opportunity to shape the educational experience of young people in a thriving academy and to contribute to the continued growth and success of our Trust. If you would like to arrange an informal visit to the academy prior to application, please contact Stuart Aldridge, Deputy Head of Teaching & Learning, who will be delighted to welcome you.
