About this Role

Brooklands School have an exciting opportunity for experienced LSA's to join the support team in our  Alternative Resource Provision for pupils with Autism.   This provision provides education to 12 primary aged pupils with a diagnosis of autism and has been commissioned by Central Bedfordshire to support with the increased number of middle school aged children with an EHC plan stating Autism as the main special education need.

Although housed in a separate building the provision will be part of the mainstream school and, where appropriate, children will join the main school for learning and activities.

This role is ideal for compassionate individuals who are committed to supporting the education and emotional development of pupils who have Autism who can demonstrate challenging behaviours and sensory difficulties and can become overwhelmed.  The successful candidates will work closely with a team of professionals to create a nurturing and inclusive environment to enable children and young people with Autism to thrive.

Successful candidates will be expected to carry out detailed observations of pupils and to work 2-1 and in small groups in the provision as well as supporting our pupils in the main school when they join for specific learning opportunities. They will be expected to demonstrate and help implement Autism specific strategies.

At Brooklands we put children, their families and our staff at the heart of all we do.  We have a genuine open-door policy and work in partnership with our families to provide the very best education, care, guidance and support for all.

We are fully invested in the professional development of all our staff.  We are an extremely supportive team where staff well-being and workload are considered and important to us.  Staff tell us that they feel valued and listened to at Brooklands

Visits to the school are welcome from prospective candidates.  If a visit is required please contact the school office and we will do our best to accommodate you.

This school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff to share this commitment. Applicants must be willing to undergo child protection screening appropriate to the post, including and enhanced DBS check.

We reserve the right to interview and appoint a suitable candidate before the deadline date.
