About this Role

We are seeking to appoint an Achievement Support Assistant to join our SEND team from February, term time only.  The position would suit a range of candidates, whether you are needing to work around the school runs, a college student on a gap year, or considering a career in teaching and would benefit from valuable classroom experience; we would love to hear from you.  Full training will be provided, so finding the right person is our priority.

The essential qualities required are someone who enjoys a good rapport with students as well as the desire to help them learn and succeed.  Based in both the classroom and our dedicated learning support centre, you will have an innovative, creative approach to ensure students gain access to the work.  Please read the attached information pack and note that we will only shortlist candidates who have obtained GCSE's in both Maths and English grade C or above/or equivalent.

Benefits of working at Priestlands  include:

  • Free on-site car park
  • Friendly and sociable colleagues
  • Enrolment in and generous contribution to one of the UK’s largest public sector pension schemes; LGPS
  • Eligible for reduced rate membership at NFDC leisure centres
  • Free and confidential Employee Assistance programme offering advice on a range of areas including well-being, housing and financial matters
  • Free eye sight test every 2 years
  • Professional development opportunities for all staff
  • Affordable on-site canteen

The post is for a total of 30 hours per week, 8.45am-3.05pm Monday to Friday which includes a 20 minute unpaid break.  You will receive your salary in 12 equal payments.  The post is for 39 working weeks per year (term time only), but you will be paid for 44.60 weeks of the year to include holiday pay.

References will be usually taken up prior to interview; if you currently work in a school, please ensure one of your references is from your current Headteacher.  You will be required to provide appropriate evidence of identity and qualifications to support other pre-employment checks which will be undertaken on the successful candidate for this role, including:  your right to work in the UK, a confidential health declaration,  an online search of your name in line with government guidance on Keeping Children Safe in Education, and a DBS application.
