About this Role

About this Role

Kirkby Stephen Grammar School is part of Cumbria Education Trust. CET is a growing multi-academy trust based in Cumbria; and is committed to creating outstanding, innovative and inspiring learning environments for our schools and their communities. The successful candidate will be joining CET at an exciting time, as we continue to build on our successes and move forward on our journey to establish ourselves as one of the highest performing MATs in the North of England.

This is an excellent opportunity to join Kirkby Stephen Grammar School at a pivotal time for its future.

We are looking for an outstanding candidate to join our growing team. The candidate should be an excellent classroom practitioner, reflective in their teaching practice and focused on getting the best from every student across all key stages of the secondary curriculum.

The vacancy is for a 0.32 FTE maternity cover until January 2027 and there may be the possibility of additional hours as a Peri Music Teacher should the successful candidate wish to explore this opportunity.

The role will initially be focussing on KS3 but we anticipate there will be the opportunity to develop the KS4 and KS5 provision as we move forward.

The successful candidate will:

  • Possess a relevant teaching qualification (PGCE, Cert Ed, Bed)
  • Be an excellent communicator
  • Ensure high standards of teaching across the curriculum and have a commitment to challenging learners to achieve well
  • Be a passionate, caring and inspirational leader and teacher
  • Be self-motivated and reliable
  • Be enthusiastic about current research on thinking skills and building learning power.

If you have the qualities we require, along with the passion and aspirations to contribute to the success of the School and the MAT, we urge you to hit the "Apply" button.

Cumbria Education Trust is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare and safety of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. Enhanced DBS disclosure and Barred List checks are required for this post. You should not apply if you are on the Children’s Barred List. In line with Keeping Children Safe in Education, online searches are carried out on successful candidates.
