About this Role

Hours of work:  32.5 hours per week:  8am - 3pm Monday – Friday (including half an hour unpaid lunch).  38 term weeks (not including INSET Days), plus 2 weeks (10 days or equivalent hours) across the school holidays (40 weeks per year).

Attendance will be required in school in August during the week of the GCSE results.

It is important that the successful candidate is flexible with their time as, during exam seasons, it may be necessary to finish after 4:00pm at times, and this can be recognised via overtime or flexible working arrangements.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated and efficient Exams Officer to join Henley-in-Arden School based in the beautiful Warwickshire countryside. We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic and committed professional to oversee and manage all our examination processes which will require effective liaison with Exam Boards, students, staff and Senior Leadership.  The successful candidate will ensure the organisation and delivery of internal and external examinations within the school in accordance with local and national guidance. We can offer training on the job for this post.

The Examinations Officer is responsible for the organisation and smooth running of both internal and external examinations. The officer acts as the primary liaison between the school and external examination bodies. They will be familiar with the requirements and regulations placed on schools by both awarding bodies and the Joint Council for Qualifications (JCQ) and will ensure that the school is compliant with these before, during, and after examination periods.

The nature of this role means that there are peaks and troughs throughout the year with the summer term being particularly busy.  The postholder will be responsible for managing their own time across the year as determined by the needs at the role.

Experience of exam administration is desirable although not essential. External training will be provided if required.

The successful applicant will have excellent prioritisation and organisation skills and a keen eye for detail.  A high level of IT proficiency is particularly important.  Team working and leadership skills are important as the Exams Officer will work closely with curriculum leaders and support staff and will lead a team of Exam Invigilators. The post holder will have contact with students and at times their parents, hence clear communication skills with a calm approach will be vital.
