Training to teach is exciting, rewarding and demanding. The Watford Partnership for Teacher Training (Parmiter’s School is the lead school), working in partnership with the University of Hertfordshire, offers a full-time, one-year School-based teacher training course leading to a Post- Graduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) and Qualified Teacher status (QTS).
You will train across the 11-16 age range and, in school, will be supported by a personal teacher mentor and experienced practitioners, as well as, a subject mentor at the University of Hertfordshire. These mentors will share experience, knowledge and research-informed expertise. Partnership schools provide opportunities for you to learn about pedagogical approaches relevant to your subject specialism and the professional responsibilities of all teachers. This will enable you to develop the skills to become an excellent classroom teacher.
The successful candidate will possess a passion for their subject and the ability to engage and enthuse students. Applicants do not require prior teaching experience.
By the end of the course you will be prepared for employment as an Early Career Teacher (ECT).
Tax-free bursaries are available for Art & Design, Biology, Chemistry, Computing, Design & Technology, Geography, Mathematics, Modern Foreign Languages, Music , Physics and Religious Education.
We also offer PE, Business Studies, Drama, History and Primary teacher training placements.
Please contact Mary Howard, Parmiter's School for further information and to arrange classroom experience.
