About this Role

We are seeking a enthusiastic and inspirational Female PE Teacher, who is keen to support our students academically both in and out of the classroom.

The unique hybrid nature of this role will further see you working within a second specialism within the academy, of which we would welcome any discipline. You will be committed to the highest standards of education and will enjoy the variety of teaching both theory and practical.

We would be delighted to take you on a tour of the school and give you the opportunity to view our facilities and answer any questions you may have.

The Bishop of Winchester Academy is a Church of England school, recognised by Ofsted as ‘improving the life chances of all [our] pupils’, and offering an ‘outstanding curriculum’ pioneered by ‘outstanding leadership’ (May 2017).  Operating from recently refurbished facilities, our shared mission to improve the life chances of all of our students is at the very centre of our work.

The successful candidate will:

  • Be instrumental in supporting the growth of both the PE department and the wider success of the school
  • Plan and deliver high quality and engaging lessons that will challenge students and inspire progression
  • Encourage students to have high expectations of themselves and their behaviour
  • Be able to teach GCSE (A Level is desirable)
  • Be a positive role model and supportive mentor to students

The post offers ample opportunities for an ambitious teacher to develop their skills, in addition to:

  • A bespoke CPD programme including training and in department development time
  • Excellent teaching facilities including brand new interactive smart boards
  • A robust behaviour system allowing teaching staff to deliver high quality learning opportunities to students
  • School site in close proximity to beaches and the Jurassic Coast
  • Cycle to work scheme

The Bishop of Winchester Academy is an equal opportunities employer and welcomes applications from all suitably qualified candidates. We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expect all staff to share this commitment. An enhanced DBS check is required for all successful applicants.

Please be aware that due to the ‘Keeping Children Safe in Education’ legislation we do not accept CV’s.

We reserve the right to close a vacancy earlier than the advertised date if we have received applications that meet the criteria.
