Make a difference where it really matters.
At West SILC, we know that strong
families change lives — and that learning thrives when children, young people,
and their families feel understood, supported, and empowered.
We are seeking a skilled, compassionate, and proactive Family Support Worker & Outreach Tutor to join our special school community. This is a unique role that combines whole-school family support and early help with a targeted outreach education function, working across our SILC sites.
About the role
This is a key role within West SILC, supporting families and
learners across our special school provision.
The role is rooted in family support and early help, working
with families across the SILC to build strong relationships, identify emerging
needs, and provide timely, preventative support. You will work with families
whose children are attending school as well as those facing more complex
challenges, empowering parents and carers and helping to reduce barriers to
wellbeing, engagement, and learning. This work is relationship-based and not
attendance-led.
Where needed, the role also includes targeted outreach or
home-based learning for a small number of learners who are temporarily unable
to access school. Working alongside teaching staff, you will help maintain
continuity of education and support successful reintegration into school.
Together, this allows you to provide joined-up support that considers both the family context and the learner’s educational needs.
About you
You will be someone who:
You don’t need to have “done it all” — but you do need the right values, resilience, and commitment to learning.
