About this Role

Teacher of English

This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and motivated applicant to join our successful school, as part of our aspirational and hard working department. We are looking to appoint a teacher of English who is a team player, will be able to demonstrate excellence in teaching and have the knowledge and experience to teach across a range of ages and abilities.

The English department is a high achieving department with outstanding results at GCSE and A-level. At Highlands School, we offer excellent professional development throughout the year; making sure CPD is focused on current and up to date research. Our department was able to work with subject experts, such as David Didau and Christine Counsell in order to design our KS3 curriculum. Our literature based curriculum provides students with enough lexical challenges that will enable them to master the power of words and learn the art of communication.

Highlands is an Outstanding school (OFSTED 2011, 2014 and 2024) at which students consistently outperform national expectations in terms of both attainment and progress. Outstanding outcomes provide our students with the opportunity to continue their studies at prestigious institutions; students at Highlands regularly receive offers from medical schools, Oxbridge and Russell Group universities. Colleagues joining Highlands are joining one of the most popular and successful schools in North London.

The work we do at Highlands is underpinned by our values: determination, aspiration, respect and equality (DARE).

Your application should be completed after reading the job description and person specification. Please use the application form to demonstrate how your skills and experience meet the requirements of the role and why you believe you would be a strong candidate.

We are committed to attracting top talent to our school and welcome applications from all members of the community.
