About this Role

Rowan Gate Primary School is a dynamic, forward‑thinking and highly successful primary school for pupils with severe and complex learning difficulties.

This is a rare and exciting opportunity to join the HR team at Rowan Gate Primary School, working as part of the wider administration team to support the running of the School.  We’re looking for an organised, positive, and proactive HR Assistant to join our team and help us deliver exceptional support to our staff, leaders, and wider school community.
If you enjoy varied work, value accuracy, and thrive in a role where no two days are the same, this is an exciting opportunity to grow your HR career within a supportive school environment.
Within this role, you'll play a hands‑on part in recruitment, onboarding, pay, absence, and day‑to‑day HR support — making a real impact on the staff experience, working closely with the HR Manager, gaining exposure to a wide range of HR processes and developing your professional skills.
We’re looking for someone who can demonstrate the following skills and experience:
  • Administrative experience (preferably in HR)
  • Understanding of HR processes and basic employment legislation
  • Awareness of safeguarding principles
  • Experience supporting recruitment processes

This is a part-time, permanent role working 37 hours per week Monday to Friday. The role will be for 40 weeks per year (38 weeks term time, plus 5 days training and 5 additional days during the School holidays). The role will be predominantly based at our Rushden Hayway Site, but as with all our vacancies, the successful candidate should be able and willing to work at any of our sites, so travel between sites may be necessary.

Rowan Gate is committed to safeguarding and promoting the safety and welfare of the pupils in its care and all applicants should hold or be willing to undergo a DBS Enhanced Disclosure.  Appointments will also be subject to confirmation of right to work, satisfactory health clearance, 2 satisfactory references from previous employers, in addition to other clearance checks. In addition, in line with Keeping Children Safe in Education, we are also required to carry out online searches for all successfully shortlisted candidates.
