About this Role

St Joseph's Catholic School

"With God's love and inspiration, we aspire and achieve excellence"

Job Title: Teacher of Science

Responsible to: Head of Science

Start Date:  September 2026

Our Science Department

At St Joseph’s Catholic School, the Science Department is an energetic, forward-thinking community where curiosity, critical inquiry, and handson exploration lie at the heart of everything we do. Our team is supportive, innovative and deeply committed to nurturing a lifelong fascination with the natural world. We challenge pupils to think logically and scientifically, encouraging metacognitive approaches that empower them to understand not only what they are learning but how they learn and how to progress. Through practical investigation and conceptual rigour, we strive for excellence in every lesson, developing young scientists who question, analyse and reflect.

Key responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver engaging, high‑quality Science lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4.
  • Assess, record and report on pupil progress, providing clear feedback to support improvement.
  • Maintain strong classroom management and create a safe, purposeful learning environment.
  • Contribute to curriculum development, reviewing and refining schemes of work.
  • Communicate effectively with parents, colleagues and leaders to support pupil development.
  • Participate in professional development, performance management and wider school duties.

We are looking for someone who

  • Is committed to professional development and continuous improvement.
  • Is supportive of our Catholic values and inclusive ethos.
