About this Role

We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic, ambitious and highly skilled Head of Netball to join our thriving and nationally recognised Sports Department. Recently ranked among the top eleven Sports Schools in the UK, we offer an exceptional environment for both participation and high‑level performance, with Netball playing a central role in our sporting success.

This is an exciting opportunity for an inspiring Netball specialist who is passionate about developing the sport across all age groups. The successful candidate will bring energy, expertise and a commitment to ensuring every pupil has the opportunity to enjoy and excel in Netball.

The Role

The Head of Netball will lead the strategic and day‑to‑day direction of Netball within the Senior School. We are looking for someone who can:

  • Teach and coach Netball to very high standard, inspiring pupils from beginners through to elite performers.

  • Bring strong playing or coaching experience at county, regional or national level, and ideally hold a Level 2 or Level 3 coaching qualification.

  • Lead and manage a team of Netball teachers and coaches, and contribute positively to the wider Sports Department.

  • Oversee all fixtures, ensuring effective scheduling and communication across the school.

  • Support and lead residential sports trips (UK and overseas), and contribute fully to training sessions before school, at lunchtimes, after school and at weekends.

  • Develop strong links with local clubs, Netball academies and external partners.

Wider PE Responsibilities

Alongside Netball leadership, the successful candidate will:

  • Teach across the PE curriculum in a selection of other sports.
We particularly welcome applicants able to teach football, or who can offer additional summer sports such as athletics, tennis or cricket.

  • Maintain excellent records of pupil progress and uphold high standards of safeguarding, professionalism and communication.

  • Contribute to all departmental and whole‑school events, meetings and activities.

Desirable Attributes

  • Experience teaching GCSE and/or A Level Physical Education.

  • Expertise to lead one of the school’s major summer sports.

  • Strong ICT skills, excellent organisation and a collaborative, proactive approach.

What We Offer

  • A high‑performing sports environment with outstanding facilities.

  • The opportunity to lead a well‑established programme and shape its future direction.

  • Supportive colleagues, a vibrant school community and extensive opportunities for professional development.

St Catherine’s School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. All staff are expected to share this commitment. The successful candidate will be subject to full safer recruitment checks, including enhanced DBS clearance.
