About this Role

Bridgewater Primary is a welcoming three-form entry school, with its own nursery provision, situated close to Abington Park.  Our creative curriculum and strong team spirit permeates throughout the school. We work hard to ensure our children receive an education, which is fun and underpinned by high standards and expectations.

We are looking for a kind and caring SEN 1:1 Teaching Assistant, with a warm, friendly, positive and cheerful disposition, to provide support for pupils and teacher within our school.  The successful candidates will be expected to support throughout the school as required, working with whole classes, small groups or as a 1-1 with a specific child.

Working alongside the class teacher you will be supporting a child to access the curriculum and ensure their daily needs are met.   Training will be provided.

You will also provide support beyond the classroom, including supervising playground activities and offering help wherever it's needed during breaks and lunchtimes.

This is a fixed term contract attached to a named child.

This role may involve supporting children with an intimate care plan. Supervision will be given and you will be part of a supportive year group team.

As part of a supportive team of experienced practitioners, who will provide help and guidance, your role will focus on supporting children’s learning and wellbeing, involving delivery of targeted interventions with individual children, small group sessions, supporting the whole class or providing more in-dept support for children with Special Educational Needs. 

Hours of work:  Monday – Friday 0840-1530, with ½ hour for lunch, 39 weeks per year (Term time plus training days)

You will need to be passionate about working with children and have a growth mind set. The ideal candidate must be educated to GCSE standard in English & Maths (Grades A-C or 9-4) and be committed to enabling our children to achieve their full potential. Candidates should have excellent communication skills, be able to use their initiative in dealing with situations effectively and can work as a team member. They should be consistent in their approach and be able to relate calmly and positively, showing patience and a caring attitude.

 It would be beneficial to have experience in:

 · Developing consistent and nurturing routines to engage children in learning

· Supporting engagement in shared activities

 · Supporting social and communication needs, including interactions and structured play

· Supporting a child in 1:1 sessions and on a whole class basis.
