About this Role

St. Andrew’s CEVA Primary School is seeking an enthusiastic and compassionate Lead SEND Practitioner to support our SEND class teacher to lead learning in our specialist provision, The Echo Unit. This provision is for pupils in Key Stage 1 with communication and interaction needs, including autistic spectrum disorder (ASD). The lead practitioner will support the teacher to create a safe, nurturing, and stimulating learning environment where, through strong and trusting relationships, pupils can thrive academically, socially, and emotionally, irrespective of their different academic and developmental levels. We are seeking a practitioner who is creative, flexible and resilient. They must be confident to take the lead when the teacher is not in the classroom, offer support to the other adults in the setting and manage their time and resources effectively.

At St. Andrew’s CEVA primary school, we believe in inclusion through understanding, patience, and partnership. If you're ready to champion every child’s right to learn and belong, and are ready to be part of something truly exciting, we would love to hear from you.

  • Participate in relevant professional development opportunities to enhance your knowledge and skills, and work collaboratively with other staff to share best practice
  • Manage the day-to-day care and support for pupils, including co-regulation, medical needs and personal care
  • Model high levels of professionalism, empathy and positivity towards pupils, staff members and others involved with the education of pupils with SEND
