The Bishop’s Stortford High School is a popular, oversubscribed 6FE school of 1260 students, providing a single-sex education for boys in Years 7 to 11 with a thriving mixed sixth form of close to 400 students, including 133 female students. In September 2024 we relocated to a brand-new state-of-the-art school, on a large site less than a mile from our previous location. We have a fantastic new learning environment, supported by cutting edge technology, and huge opportunities for the future.
The vast majority of our students really enjoy learning Maths and this is partly due to the inclusive, yet aspirational nature of the department. We have a strong history of success at both GCSE and A Level. Each year, over 90% of students gain grade 4+ and around 40% gain grade 7+ at GCSE. We currently have four A-Level Maths classes and one Further Maths class in each of Years 12 and 13 and we also run Core Mathematics as one of our Year 12 enhancement options, with outcomes also reflecting students’ high ability and enthusiasm for the subject.
As a result of excellent teaching, our students consistently achieve fantastic academic outcomes at both GCSE and A-Level. “Behaviour is exemplary in lessons and around the school.” which means the school has a calm atmosphere and students are ready to learn. "Pupils are polite, well-mannered and kind.” and “are ambassadors for the school, demonstrating excellent behaviours in all that they do.” (Ofsted 2023)
Applications by CV will not be accepted.
