About this Role

Mill Ford is a school with a specialism in meeting the needs of children and young adults aged 3-19 with complex needs, including severe and profound and multiple learning difficulties, complex medical needs and autistic spectrum conditions.

We are a friendly, child-centred school where staff work tirelessly to provide each child and young person with an individual and exciting curriculum that ensures pupils develop skills and knowledge for life now and in the future.  We place a strong emphasis on ensuring our pupils aspire to be the best they can, are able to contribute to society, develop their communication and social skills, enjoy learning and have a strong sense of self. We ensure pupils can achieve these things independently in a nurturing environment, where they feel safe enough to take risks. We currently have 150 pupils from the age of 4 up to 19 across two sites and in excess of 200 staff members.

We are seeking to employ a motivated and proactive HR Support Administrator – Staff Attendance and Wellbeing. This role is key in supporting line managers and school Leadership to manage sickness absence effectively and provide generalist HR advice.

Working closely with HR colleagues, you will provide high-quality administrative support to the HR Admin Manager, ensuring the smooth and efficient organisation of Return to Work, Wellbeing and Long-term sickness meetings. Ensuring that staff records are kept up to date and the induction process is completed for all new staff in a timely manner. This includes preparing documentation, coordinating schedules, liaising with staff members, and managing all logistical arrangements to hold and support effective meetings.

You will need to:

  • hold wellbeing meetings
  • be organised and efficient
  • have great attention to detail
  • be able to work to tight deadlines
  • be able to prioritise workloads
  • be flexible and approachable
  • work under your own initiative.

The role will also include:

  • providing cover for our busy reception as required
  • use of Bromcom
  • effectively laising with the school's staff absence insurance provider
  • general clerical duties including typing of letters, reports and other documents as necessary
  • other admin tasks as required by the Admin or wider school teams.

For more detailed information regarding the post, please see the attached Role Profile and Person Spec. The successful candidate will need to be able to travel between our Rochford and Riverside sites.

This post is for 22.20 hours per week, 40 weeks per year (term time + Non-Pupil Days and 1 week in the summer holidays). Days and times are negotiable and will be agreed upon with the successful candidate prior to appointment.

N.B. We are also recruiting for an Annual Review and Administrative Assistant and the two positions could be combined for the right candidate. If you would like to be considered for both positions, please ensure you submit separate applications for both posts.

Mill Ford School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. The successful candidate will be subject to an enhanced DBS check, online search check and satisfactory references.
