About this Role

In September 2024, Chiltern Wood  as part of the schools' expansion opened a third site based in Studley Green, High Wycombe.    We are looking to recruit new Teaching Assistants to join our already established early years team at this site.

This particular advert is to source staff for  new academic year in September 2025.

The Studley Green Site currently supports 2 classes of children with severe and complex learning needs, though we anticipate that may expand further, and has been refurbished to ensure our complex pupils can be supported in the correct therapeutic environment. This small school benefits from lovely outdoor space and a tight-knit team atmosphere.

You will be well supported by experienced and welcoming staff within a well-run, hard-working school who put the wellbeing of pupils and staff at the forefront.  We pride ourselves on building positive relationships with our pupils, their families and supporting professionals to enable communication, physical, social and emotional development for each individual. Chiltern Wood follows a therapeutic approach and is well-supported by occupational and speech and language therapists who work across all sites.

If you are interested in learning how to contribute purposefully to the educational and social development of children and young people and you feel you have the qualities to successfully attend to their welfare and emotional needs, we want to hear from you!

Previous experience is not essential as full training will be provided, however experience of a learning through play environment would be beneficial. Training opportunities may include:

·         Using a communication book / device

·         Low arousal approach

·         Behaviour and de-escalation

·         Occupational therapy basics including sensory regulation

·         Child protection

·         Online safety and GDPR

·         Administering medication

Introduction to dysphagia

Chiltern Wood School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of its pupils and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. The successful candidate will be subject to full vetting checks, including a disclosure of criminal records at an enhanced level, online searches and satisfactory references
