About this role
Ivel Valley is a special needs school in Biggleswade and we are looking for enthusiastic and patient people to supervise our fantastic children and young people at lunch time as well as completing tasks in the dining hall and on the playground/field. Our school site on Hitchmead Road supports pupils from Early Years to Key Stage 4 with the majority of students continuing on to post 16 education at our College site at The Baulk, Biggleswade.
We support young people with a broad spectrum of
special educational needs and disabilities including profound and multiple
learning difficulties, severe learning difficulties, autism and complex medical
needs.
It is essential that the successful candidate is able
to communicate clearly with children and young people in a calm and respectful
manner. We are looking for team players who are reliable and trustworthy who
can work within the school’s policies, including safeguarding and child
protection (training provided). The ability to be flexible and work on
your own initiative is desirable.
You will help class staff with the safety and well-being of pupils at lunch time. The role requires care for pupils, helping them to prepare for mealtime, accessing a suitable meal and cleaning up afterwards. There are many aspects of this role that are different to mainstream – please read the job description fully to understand the nature of the role and tasks required.
You will join a passionate and supportive team and will be provided with a full induction programme to give you the training you need to succeed.
The posts are permanent,
term time only plus training days, working 10 hours weekly from 12 to 2pm each
day.
