Lealands High School, in partnership with Luton Borough Council, is proud to announce the launch of an exciting new project: an EBSA (Emotionally Based School Avoidance) Unit which will be called The Compass Centre. This ground-breaking initiative is designed to provide tailored support for students unable to attend school due to medical, emotional, or mental health challenges.

About Lealands High School

Lealands High School is proud to foster a supportive, fun and friendly environment for both students and staff, where we can recognise potential and help individuals thrive. Located in Luton, within close proximity to the M1 – our school is committed to providing the highest quality of education and promoting a passion for learning.

A unique role in our EBSA unit

Are you passionate about supporting young people with additional needs and mental health challenges? Do you have the vision, adaptability, and skills to make a lasting impact on the lives of students unable to access mainstream education? If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you to join our team as a hybrid HLTA (Higher Level Teaching Assistant) and ELSA (Emotional Literacy Support Assistant) within our Emotionally Based School Avoidance (EBSA) unit.

This unique role combines academic and emotional support, focusing on helping students thrive both in their education and personal wellbeing. We are looking for a driven individual who is HLTA-qualified with the willingness to complete ELSA training, with experience working with students with additional needs and/or mental health concerns.
