A happy teacher is a better teacher.
Are you ready for your next professional challenge? Are you inspired, engaged and passionate about early childhood education or key stage one education? Then join us at Someries Infant School and Early Childhood Education Centre where we believe anything is possible!
We are seeking applications from successful class teachers to join our school. Although we specialise in early childhood and key stage one education, we will consider applications from those with experience in teaching – or who have trained to teach – lower key stage two. The successful applicant will hold either Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or Early Years Teacher Status (EYTS). The school has a strong track record of successfully supporting Early Career Teachers (ECTs).
Candidates will be confident and passionate teachers and people who demonstrate high expectations, a flexible and resilient attitude to challenge and a commitment to providing the highest quality learning opportunities which support the education of the whole child.
Someries Infant School and Early Childhood Education Centre is a place that promotes a real love of learning. We want children to be excited about coming to school, engaged purposefully in their learning and able to articulate their views in polite, respectful and positive ways. We expect learning opportunities to be irresistible and work closely as colleagues to continue to develop and enhance what is unique about what we do and how we do it. Our school vision is built on the principle that anything is possible.
We are a values-based school, and the successful candidate will have the interpersonal skills to model our school’s core values within a framework in which everyone is ambitious, innovative and inclusive.
We believe in our teachers. That is why we will give you all the support you need to achieve your best. You will have to work hard here, but only on things that make a difference: we do not do meaningless paperwork, and we do not observe lessons or monitor your planning. We are always trying to find smarter ways to do our work.
Our school
Someries Infant School and Early Childhood Education Centre educates 2- to 7-year-olds in the east of Luton. We are situated close to the Hertfordshire border. We are a heavily oversubscribed and successful infant school admitting 60 children annually.
Our Early Childhood Education Centre incorporates our two reception classes and two nursery classes and educates 2- to 5-year-olds. Our Key Stage One Department incorporates four single-age year one and year two classes. We also operate a SEND Unit for pupils with special educational needs and disabilities which is managed by our Head of Inclusion and taught by a specialist SEND Teacher.
Our school has undergone extensive refurbishment in recent years and offers a pleasant, welcoming and well-maintained working environment for all members of our team. All classrooms benefit from air-conditioning.
As a heavily oversubscribed school, all of our classes consist of thirty pupils, and our nursery offers full- or part-time nursery provision. Each class is supported by at least one full-time Teaching Assistant.
Our school is extremely well-resourced and keeps children at the centre of everything we do. Our pupils are extremely keen to learn and participate, and we teach a rich and challenging curriculum that is constantly evolving.
We only recruit people who are passionate about making a difference to children’s lives; people who are highly reflective and challenge themselves to keep on improving. This means our working relationships can be relatively relaxed and informal.
People love working here; we are warm, welcoming, positive, supportive and forward-looking. We have very high expectations of both children and adults.
