About this Role

Kempston Rural Primary School, nestled in the beautiful Bedfordshire countryside, is seeking a passionate Teaching Assistant to join our friendly and dedicated team. This is a fixed-term position until 31st August 2026, with the possibility of extension.
You will work closely with class teachers and the senior leadership team to support pupils in class, deliver targeted interventions, and provide small group and deliver 1:1 support and provision for children with a range of additional needs and disabilities.
We offer a well-resourced, creative setting with a strong ethos of inclusion, high expectations, and a commitment to excellence. 
All our support staff are allocated a wellbeing afternoon off per term.
We are particularly keen to hear from applicants with strong EYFS and/or SEND experience (ideally Level 3 qualified), including skills in supporting children with SEND, experience working with high‑needs pupils. We are interested in applicant who have familiarity and experience with approaches such as the Curiosity Approach, SHREC or other high‑quality interaction models, TEACCH, Makaton, Attention Autism, intensive interaction, sensory‑based provision, child‑led exploration, as well as those who can demonstrate deep knowledge of early years development, purposeful play, and effective strategies that enable every child, especially those with complex needs, to thrive
Hours:
Monday–Thursday: 8:00am–3:30pm
Friday: 8:00am–1:30pm
(31.5 hours per week)

  7. TA roles involve some time supporting pupil/s with high needs, following direction from teachers and specialists while also using initiative. Can you give an example of when you balanced both instruction and independent judgement effectively?
