About this Role

Highfield Nursery School provides high quality early education to children aged 9 months to 4 years of age. We are looking for a practitioner with suitable experience of working with young children to join our team. Not only do you need to be a good or an outstanding practitioner but also flexible, resilient and able to contribute innovative ideas.

There is a commitment from staff that every moment will count for every child. Our provision for children with special educational needs/disabilities is exemplary. Staff are well trained and incredibly skilled in child development. This is a very positive and inspirational community (Ofsted 2023).

Birmingham Federation of Maintained Nursery Schools consists of nine Nursery Schools delivering inclusive high-quality early education and care to children aged 0-5 across Birmingham. We have a vibrant and enthusiastic staff of teachers, teaching assistants, nursery officers, play workers, administrators and other support staff who make up our large staff team. As well as outstanding provision for children and families we are committed to staff professional development and you would have opportunities to be part of the wider and developing role of our nursery schools. Our settings are culturally diverse with a large number of languages spoken. We have a reputation for supporting children with a range of complex Special Educational Needs and disabilities as well as support for families who may have additional challenges in their lives. We offer a mixture of provision, including fee paying, as well as before and after School provision in most schools.

We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the wellbeing of all children, and expect our staff and volunteers to share this commitment. Suitability checks will be undertaken including identity, qualification, on-line and two references.

Visits to the school are most welcome. Please email s.carter@hifieldn.bham.sch.uk to arrange a visit.

Deadline for applications is Friday 17 April 2026 at 12:00 pm. Interviews will take place on Thursday 14 May 2026.
