About this Role

We are seeking to appoint a highly organised, skilled and motivated Examinations Officer. While experience in a grammar school may be advantageous, it is not essential; however, the successful candidate will be committed to ensuring that all examination processes run smoothly, efficiently and in full compliance with awarding body regulations.

You will work 36 hours per week, Term Time Only plus 4 additional weeks (43 weeks per year). This will include key periods, such as the final three weeks of August to support GCSE and A Level results and priority appeals. You will also be required to work at least two Saturdays per year: one in September for the 11+ examinations and one in January for the Year 12 entrance tests. The remaining days within the 43-week period can be scheduled flexibly to carry out the responsibilities of the role.

As Examinations Officer, you will:

  • Ensure all processes are accurate, secure, and completed within required timeframes
  • Work closely with senior leaders, teaching staff, and external bodies to maintain clear procedures and compliance with regulations
  • Oversee the administration and smooth running of all internal and external exams
  • Bring organisation, careful attention to detail, and forward planning to every aspect of your work

As a selective state grammar school, our students achieve impressive outcomes placing us as one of the top state schools in the country for academic achievement. Our students progress onto a range of competitive destinations, including a high number of students achieving places at Oxbridge or on medical related courses.

However, we are not solely focused on academic achievement; we are also committed to offering rich opportunities for personal development, including those that help to build confident and considerate young people. Our school motto translates as ‘Who endeavours wins’, reflecting our values of hard work, dedication, and resilience. The successful candidate will understand how well-resourced creative spaces, exhibitions, and extracurricular activities can contribute positively to students’ personal development and support their wider success in school.

A further detailed job description and person specification is attached in the candidate pack.
